Mark, I hate to be one to correct another person, (not really, I have a ball doing it/), but the saying you used above is actually a response from a Senator, (don't recall his name), who was asked to come to Washington, (back in the 1700's) and sent a reply saying, "I'll be there if the good Lord's willing and the Creek don't rise". The reference to the Creek was to a tribe of Indians called the Creek, who were giving the settlers trouble at the time. Now you are almost as smart as I am.
