As reported a couple of months ago, I had some problems with the brake
pedals on my KR-2. The pedals were not wide enough for my shoes to fit and
my shoes were jamming against the vertical rudder links and the master
cylinders. The left pedal was also rubbing on a bolt head on the vertical
link. Thanks to some very helpful suggestions from the KRnet and especially
Larry Flesner and the pictures that he provided, I rebuilt the rudder pedals
to correct the problems. The brake pedal arrangement is very similar to
Larry's. I did add a 1/2-inch lip to the edges of the pedals to help center
my shoe on each pedal. The brakes are now smooth, responsive and strong as
confirmed by slow and high speed taxi testing and full power run-up.
Steering control for taxi is excellent.
Thank you Larry.
