If you do use vinyl get the removable kind.

I use white vinyl like the lettering for n numbers. It's fairly cheap,
comes
in any color, and as long as you are very careful it looks great. A
three
inch wide strip long enough to go all the way around. Trim to fit.
Sticks
like crazy and if you have to take the wings off, a small sharp knife
will
get it out of your way. I have had no problems with it at all but I only
have 15 hours on the plane.

Dan's idea is better, but this one is quicker. Purchase a set of
replacement slats for vertical blinds. Trim the length to fit and attach
with a couple of screws on each end.

BTW, I didn't notice any difference in flight characteristics without
the
gap covers but the plane seemed to be slightly more efficient with them.
