Everyone, Thank you for the feedback. I will just mount in where I was planning and keep an eye on it. Thanks, Derek Lewis

The location was the only real-estate left. I originally installed a heat shield that is commercially available on the exhaust to protect the battery. That worked for nearly 3 years. Then i started to rework the baffles on the engine to tighten them up. I started cooking batteries then. I built another shield around the battery that left air space around it and open top and bottom. I then robbed a 1" scat tube line that feed cold air to the coils and split it to feed air directly to the shroud around the battery. That has been in place for about 150 hours now and i have been keeping check on the battery to make sure it isn't starting to bulge out. Mark is correct that the cowl in general is around 20 degrees above OAT but there are certainly hot spots in there too. I would recommend taking some steps ahead of time knowing what I know now.Joe Horton,Coopersburg, Pa ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- KR> Engine compartment temp > Date: Tue, Jan 10, 2012 9:18 pm > > > Has anyone checked their engine compartment temp?
