Mark, Make your bracket one size bigger. Or if you make a new one, polish the sides of your material. If you weld it it is not T6 any more but it is O material.
Good luck Stef Stef and Ted are building the KR-2S see http://www.masttotaalconcept.nl/kr2 ________________________________ Van: krnet-bounces+stefkr2=kpnmail...@mylist.net namens Mark Jones Verzonden: ma 23-5-2011 23:25 Aan: KR Net Onderwerp: KR> Wheel Pant Mounting Brackets Once again I have broken a wheel pant mounting bracket. This makes at least ten times they have broken and each time I am paying around 10 dollars to get them welded back together. They are made from 6061T6 aluminum. When I made them I simply bent them to shape but eventually they started breaking at the bends. I would get them welded and then over time they would break at the edge of the weld. All from vibration of course. For what I have paid to have them repaired I could have had them gold plated by now. Anyway, what are your brackets made from and how are they holding up?
