Andy,

I don't recognize your experience, a kr with a reasonable cg is a pussycat. A 
kr with 350lb of man meat and low tanks may well be a real handful.

I suggest you check out the cg, in uk we cannot legally fly a standard  kr2 two 
up because of concerns about the behaviour with rearward cg.

A further problem flying 2 up is the higher stall speed which means you cannnot 
land as slow hence you get loads of float. So you land too fast which means you 
cannot pull the stick back to dig in the tail wheel. The longer you are on or 
floating above the runway, the more chance of ending up in a heap off the runway

You may also find landing on grass is much easier, you get a lot less float as 
the surface temp is normally quite a bit lower.
