I have two Kr2 a/c in my garage, recently imported from Canada, one for me
and one for one of my good flying friends.

Doing a W & B I found both to be very similar in weight. A/c #1 (neither yet
have an Au rego) appears to be in good balance and has a small tail down
force when empty in the level attitude. A/C 2 appears to have an aft CG
situation but wants to tip on its nose when level. Only thing I could think
of is main wheel location, and sure enough, A/C 2 has its main wheels about
3 inches aft compared to a/c 1 (using the wing leading edge as a reference).
My calculations indicate that this is about how much the wheels need to be
moved to achieve a light (1 to 2 Kg) downforce on the tail when the a/c is
level. This a/c (#2) also has a heavily modified tail group with triangular
shaped extensions to the leading edges of both the fin and the HS.

Whilst focussing on A/C 1 at the moment I need to plan what to do with #2.
My instinct is to return the tail group to standard, deal with the c.g.
issue and move the wheels forward ..... comments? Also, what is the best way
to move the wheels ... should I contemplate cutting into the wing lower
surface and shim the legs at the spa attachment, or should I contemplate a
considerably modified bracket for attaching the stub axles to the legs? ...

Regards

Martin
