We sell the Anywhere map and the Pro has the updatable charts on it. It is north up or track up and is a beautiful and easy to use GPS. The standard or the pro is a reasonable 6 to 700$ unit that is easy to use moving map GPS. We also have an Apple IPad that is a marvel with the big screen and the unbelievable easy to use moving map chart system with 40$ yr update charts but it is north up only plus it does not give you running mileage or time on your screen. I still fly with my anywhere map standard as it is so simple an all that is needed. I also have XM weather on it and so simple to use. I have a complete 496 Garmin set up with XM weather that I will sell very reasonable as I dislike the complex damn thing. I have the yoke mounts, several, and the gismo panel mounts 2 as well as the XM antenna, in house charger and 12 volt plugins. la...@lebanair.com -----Original Message----- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of Mark Jones Sent: Saturday, December 18, 2010 7:14 AM To: KRnet Subject: Re: KR> Friday off topic; GPS Software
The only thing I did not like is that the map does noy rotate to match your direction of travel as does the Garmin. I also fly the Garmin and love it. I also have all the sectionals on my laptop which hooks up to my GPS and gives me a huge moving map display but it does not rotate to follow direction of travel either. You can put all the sectionals on your laptop for about $30 but they are not updateable. A G armin 296 is the only other moving map that I have used. If you have ever used one of the Garmins let me know how it compares. I watched the video and have read some of the website and don't remember seeing terrain warnings. I'm sure there are other features that need to be compared but the Adventure Pilots big screen and touch screen icons are a plus. Let us know the pros and cons once you have some experience behind it. For $499 plus $69 for chart updates for a year, it's a deal. To have a large screen is heaven.
