I spoke with Chris Collins, the Mt.Vernon airport manager and we concluded that September 9 & 10, 2011 would be the best date for the Gathering. Chris has another big aviation event scheduled for September also and that will give him two weeks between events.
For those of you that have e-mailed me asking how we fared financially on this years Gathering, I have not yet heard from Dana after several e-mail request. I'm sure he will give us an update soon and that will be posted to the www.krgathering.org web page. I will be putting together an outline of the areas for people to volunteer. I will be asking individuals to take complete charge of certain activities from planning to completion so that I will have more time to spend sharing my KR with fellow attendees as I did for the first time this year in Kentucky. Chris continues to make improvements to the airport like the new LARGE hangar that includes 2 showers that will be available to attendees as well as the facilities at the FBO and in the terminal.
