A draft tube is a tube used to ventilate the crankcase of oil vapor and
combustion gas blowby. The Corvair has something like a 5/8 " OD steel tube
that exits the top cover (air/oil separator)and runs down to an exit point
underneath the engine. Condensed oil and blowby gases will drip out the
draft tube onto the road as the car is driven or parked. It is usually cut
with something like a 45 degree angle on it so a low pressure area is
created to help suck on the pipe while driven (or flown).
