Hey Guys,
Last Saturday I took my 15 year old son Jason for his first trip to OSH. We
had planned to fly with one of the planes from the home airport which was a
Piper that had a cruise of about 120kts that with a 30 to 40 mph head wind and
flying around a couple Tstorms and rain showers it turned into a pretty good
marathon flight of just a few minutes over 9 hours to Stevens Point. The next
morning we made about an other hour into OSH and parked in the Fly Corvair
booth. The weather turned good forthe next few days and we spent time with all
our new best friends and several old ones. The weather looked iffy for
Wednesday so we packed up and headed out about 9:30 am right behind the
AeroShell team. The weather was clear so as we approached Chicago we climbed
to 11500 and cut across the corner of the lake and landed for fuel well into
Ohio. The airport was great, loaning us a car to go to town for lunch. Another
easy 2 1/2 hours latter we landed back home in Pa. The bummer of all this good
flying was that when I landed home the total flight time on 357CJ was 499.9
total flight time. Well I had to go cure that this afternoon with a nice little
flight of 1.2 hours so I officially have over 500 hours. Oh and I have to
personally thank one of you guys out there for putting the idea in my sons head
about borrowing the palne keys for dates instead of the car keys.
Loving every minute in Pa.
Joe Horton
