Phil,

Unless you go with one of the new "light weight" starters, (mega
bucks!) I'd suggest you stick with the old technology.  Everything I
read suggest it is more reliable than the newer key start.  The newer
key start has a failure mode of hanging up and making metal in the
engine.  I'm using the older pull start and not a hint of trouble in
375 hours.  Just MAKE SURE it is adjusted correctly, which isn't
difficult, or you can chew up some $400 to $500 dollar gears.  Don't
ask me how I know.  I got lucky and found used accessory gears
locally for a fraction of market price.  My problem occurred on first
engine run attempt.  Lesson learned. No problem since.  Only draw
back is trying to find seals for the clutch shaft.
