I'm sure this thread has gone around before, but I wasn't paying attention. I am considering purchasing a handheld as a backup to carry in my KR2, and so far have read about 2 that look like they would do the trick and are affordable at around $240 or so each. They are the Icom IC-A24 NAV-COM Transceiver and the Vertex VXA-300 Pilot III NAV-COM Transceiver. I would like to hear comments from anyone using either of these currently, and will welcome both good and bad comments about either, if anyone has any. If no one has any bad stuff to say about either of them, I am leaning toward the Vertex. If there is something way better and cheaper out there than either of these two, let me know please.
