Today, I got up and saw a 15 degree spread in the dew point and knew it was going to be the day. The last 3 weekends have either found me not feeling too good, or the weather not very nice for flying. So, I took a couple hours off work and left these bonds of earth for a while. The engine performed better than ever, with not even the slightest hiccup. It was a real pleasure. I just flew around the area to build confidence and a bit of flight time on me and the plane. I think the weather is going to remain the same for the next few days, so work will have to do without me in the mornings this week.
It was around 75 degrees OAT and my 2276 VW turning 3200 RPM, produced around 135 MPH ( no wheel fairings yet ), with CHT of 320, OT of 180, and a EGT of 1275. Raising the RPM has a direct affect on the EGT, so I am being cautious about that, as 1275 is a bit high even though the other temps are good. So, if I am not stuck in jury duty, the Black Bird and I will see you at the Gathering. Daniel R.
