I have painted about 8 planes in the last 5 years and it really does not matter what you put on the leading edge. When you go to paint or repair you will use a cleaner that will remove anything that effects the new paint. That is part of the process of prepping the area to be painted. I have used Lemon pledge ,Turtle wax and a long list of items to help remove the bugs and when I repainted the wings I had no problems when using the correct cleaners before painting. ( I had to repaint the leading edges of my Bellanca after hitting a couple of birds.)

Yes, they make it easier to remove bugs and grime but they may make it difficult or impossible to make a fiberglass repair or repaint due to the silicones. Take a look at a product called "RejeX", a polymeric coating that goes on after the surfaces are clean and dry, instead of polish or wax. It does NOT contain silicones that cause so many problems with painting later on (such as Lemon Pledge, Armor All, etc. contain). Supposed to make it much easier to remove bugs and droppings and lasts a couple of months. http://www.rejex.com/rejex.html Oscar Zuniga Air Camper NX41CC San Antonio, TX mailto: taildr...@hotmail.com website at http://www.flysquirrel.net _______________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html
