Thanks for your reply re Corvair weight. I do belong to to the KR net and 
should have checked before asking. Anyway, knowing that the Corvair weighs 
that much opens many doors.

I'm pretty sure mine weighs right at 245 pounds with everything required to
run except for fuel in the carb and electrons in the wires.  Mine's a 3100cc
engine, so a 2700cc engine is about 250 pounds.  You really can't compare
this to something like a VW or Continental though, because you don't usually
see "all-up" weights like this on the web or in advertisements.
