I have found the best place for the stick is in the center with the pilot sitting on the left side as per the original design. An arm rest is not necessary. If head room is a problem then allow more room by making the canopy bow less round and a bit flatter on top. There is pleaty of room for bagage on the right side or a light weight passenger.
