Today, with the new oil cooler installed, I conducted the second break-in run for the new rings. Everything went well, the oil stayed below 180 for long enough to get in a good run-up. I still have a cool side and a hot side, but I think much of that is due to running with the cowling off. The really good news is that the rings appear to be seating and the #3 cylinder is catching up on the rest, in compression, as they are all almost the same. I am going to try to remember to get a compression test gauge so I can actually get the numbers, before I fly it again.
I think this seals the deal for the new intake manifold, so tomorrow, I will begin modifying the baffle and may be able to get it installed, as there is not much to do for that, then I have to modify the top of my cowling to make room for the VW intake castings. So I am thinking it may take another two weeks to get back in the air.
