I can imagine this would be a pretty good project all by itself. <<
There's a drawing of the Corvair/KR cowling relationship shown near the bottom of http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/ , with some details on the cowling at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/cowling.html (yes, a good project in itself) and engine mount at http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/mount_fit.html . My molds are basically up for grabs, except that I need to pull another cowling out of the molds before I send them to anybody, and Jeff Wilder gets them first (since he was due to get them when I re-po'd them so I could make another set). But even better might be William Wynne's "holey cowl" shown at http://www.flycorvair.com/clapp.html on Bill Clapp's airplane. Although it was derived from the pretty "fair" shape of mine, the finish is smoother than mine, as they were gone over by Bill Clapp (it helps to be a professional body man) before the molds were pulled. WW even sells baffle kits for the KR/Vair [of course I'm partial to the plenums], as well as a KR engine mount, etc... Well, there are your two options...
