Yesterday on KRnet has got to be one for the record books. There was no reason for there to be a firestorm of ill-feelings, personal attacks, and everybody trying to get in their two cents worth. Forty-nine posts in one day, and there shouldn't have been but about 10. Every time we have an outbreak like this, several folks unsubscribe, like Andrew McCallum, the guy on the receiving end of "airbug1"'s very helpful comment "Hey, Drew..Booo Hooo . sentimental guy !!!." If I see one more post from "airbug1", he'll be unsubscribed. That message violates several of the KRnet rules, among them useless post, no signature, not playing nicely, etc, not to mention that comment was totally uncalled for, and was apparently designed to do nothing more than hurt somebody's feelings. And then David Swanson goes off on my reply to his post and runs for a touchdown, with 8 posts on the subject. And then everybody else had to throw their two cents worth in for another twenty or so useless posts. If you'll go back and read my post, I very nicely questioned why he pulled those studs, and then simply said "let me know what you find out". We didn't need a running commentary on the progress of the research. All we needed was for him to report back after he'd checked his facts. It was as if I had questioned somebody's manhood or something. And if you want to tell somebody where to go, please do it privately, rather than to 620 people. I went to bed debating whether I was going to turn the whole list off and give y'all a week to learn how to act, or simply throw in the towel and unsubscribe myself, leaving the ship to plow on ahead without me. Jeff Scott left a few weeks ago after one of these blowups. Steve Makish left years ago and refuses to come back. Randy Stein, the list moderator, left a few weeks ago. The list of burnouts goes on and on. Mark Jones was even thinking about leaving a couple of weeks ago! Wake up folks, and realize that a blizzard of posts that do nothing to further the cause of building or flying KRs is detrimental for the whole community. It makes reading the list painful, and when somebody's threshold is reached, they're gone. People subscribe to this list to learn or educate. Useless posts and chit chat don't further that goal. I've said it before and I guess I'll say it one more time: KRnet is not going to become a useless chat room as long as I'm here. It's pretty bad when the list owner wonders "why bother". There goes another half hour of time that I should have spent working on my new engine instead...
