The Black Bird has her MOJO back and she is very happy with the new look. The engine is just hung and will take a while to get all the stuff hooked back up due to the new configuration. I bought a new oil cooler from Steve that I will hang below the engine, and the carb is now on top with a really neat intake manifold. I have to check out the fit under the cowling, and may have to have the intake re-done, if the fit is too bad, but I should know that tomorrow.
You would not believe the mess that the mechanic found when he started trying to clean up the heads. It turns out, that is where my problems have been coming from, with not being able to get the mixture right. As bad as it was, it is hard to believe that an engine could turn out as much power as it was. I am very lucky to have found it when I did. If your gut tells you something is wrong, don't try to tell it that it is lying. Anyway, he fly cut the heads, so they are right and put in a 60mm head gasket ( copper O ring ) to take up the slack. I now have 8.5:1 compression with Total Seal rings, and am having a hard time being patient until I can start it up. I will post pics on my site, as soon as I can get it all together.
