For those who do not know, you can get a copy of all ADs at www.faa.gov. On the top right of the page is a quick find link. Click the dragdown box to AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES and click GO. And yes, AD compliance on aircraft parts used in experimentals is mandatory. Yes you can sign them off yourself.
To pick one little nit, you get a repairman certificate, not a mechanics certificate. Larry also brought up another good point that some people don't know. An owner can do all of the maintenance on an experimental. The repairman certificate just gives you the right to do the condition inspection. Some people are hesitant to buy an experimental they did not build thinking they can't do the work, but with the exception of the condition inspection, they can do everything. Heath ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ After verifying that his information is correct, your signature with that entry should be just as valid in the engine log as any A&P. You, as the owner of an aircraft licensed experimental, are authorized to perform all maintenance. You must have someone with at least an A&P license do the annual condition inspection unless you, as the builder, apply for and receive a mechanics license for that aircraft. I wonder what kind of firestorm this will set off. :-) Larry Flesner _______________________________________ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html
