Doesn't revmaster sell a manual for that? If not, Steve Bennett of Great Plains has one that covers his VW engines. No doubt there are important differences in accessories, but the basic engine assembly should be the same. Steve also sells some inexpensive templates for aluminum cooling baffles, if you don't have those. Tbest stock engine repair manual by far is the factory manual by Robert Bentley, for the 1970-1979 Type 1, still in print and available from just about anybody that deals in VW engines. Unquestionably the best hotrodding book is the old "How to Hotrod VW Engines" by Bill Fisher. This is the one that tells you how to blueprint the VW for max performance and longevity. It is excellent, and is full of tidbits like why you don't want to polish the outside of your engine, or put any chrome junk on it. I'm not sure that one's still in print, but there are usually copies for sale on Ebay for $10-$20. And there's always the "Compleat Idiot" book (yes, I know it's misspelled) named "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive", but some of the recommendations in that book are not exactly "flight qualified"...
