Sorry, guys...I screwed up the subject line on my first message about
WD-40. I'm putting my message and Robert's back in with a proper subject so it
can be found in the achives. I promise I'll do better.

WD-40 works good and doesn't hurt the plexiglas.

I concur, I just finished cleaning the duct tape goo off my canopy not more
than 45 minutes ago using WD-40.

OK, I added one to the top of http://www.krnet.org/ . I wish I had some
flying shots of some of the "new" KRs that showed up at the Gathering this
year. Next year I'll need a photo plane (something that a window or door
can be removed from). I'll try to do more with the KRnet website photos in
the future. And I still haven't cobbled up a Gathering photo page either.
Maybe one of these days...

Here's a question for the net. I looked in the archive for info on epoxy
shelf life, but didn't find much. My concern is knowing that the epoxy is safe
to
use or not. I purchased all the materials to build my KR2 in '97 and that gave
me a lot of time for the epoxy to sit. I have completed the tail section
without too much problem, but if the resin is stored for an extended period as
is
now it crystallizes and requires slow heating to decrystalize it. I also am
needing a better more confident method of mixing the correct ratio on the Dow
system 330 from Wicks. Should I scrap the 6 remaining gallons and use something
else or just buy some new hardener or any other suggestions would be
appreciated.
>>PS Mark L., do you still have your original Type 4. I am considering
strongly using one instead of the 2180, estimated to install next summer.

I've been using resin from 1980 or before.
I am using new catalyst. The resin is Safetypoxy brand by Hexel.
I is working as if it was new. [it's clear as water].

When it get cloudy just heat it in hot water.

if you want a definitive answer go on the manufacturers website and if your
answer is not there, there will be a phone # listed. Phone them and ask them.
There is no set answer for every resin as some only have a years shelf life

Usually when it's slow heated and decrystalized it's OK, try a test piece first
tho.

Rayjay is not manufactured any more. They were brought out by Turbonetics.

Hello Jaco,
I just purchased a kr2. Nice plane but a bit haeavy. I am extending the
wings to reduce wing loading and would like very much to add a Turbo. Could
you please provide me with information on the rajay unit you have or how to
go about installing a rajay here localy in US. What are the diferences
between rajay and the other units you want to change to?
Thanks,

I have some epoxy purchased in 2003 that has a stated shelf-life of 1 year on
the bottles. I won't use it on any structural part of my KR project. However, I
did use it this week on wooden canoe I am building, and it appears to be just
fine. I guess I am willing to risk a cold swim to shore with a PFD, and dry
gear, more than I am a tumble from 5000'...
