Steve,

As Barry said, they are all different, because they are KRs. There was a
time when W&B was not one of the main topics of discussion. Then along came
Jim Faughn who made everyone keenly aware of how much difference, getting it
right would make in the way your plane will fly. He, on the advise of
another builder, added 2" spacers on the front of his engine mount. That
was a "guess", and for him, it worked out. Having that information, I
decided to do a calculation to try to figure out where the best place was,
to put the engine. So, I conducted the W & B process that you can see at:

http://krbuilder.org/WeightAndBalance/index.html

Read that, and then if you will click on the "Many W&B Sheets to choose from
at the top of the page, you will get a list of W & B spread sheets from
N64KR and other builders. There is one listed there that was done for
engine placement". Once you have the numbers, you can play with them, and
see what affect, moving the engine, will have on the final W & B of your
plane.

Now, a word of caution. It is important to know that your scales are fairly
accurate, or you may get mis-led. However, this exercise did tell me that
the engine needed to be moved forward and I spaced it out 2", which has
worked out well. 2" was the maximum, that I was willing to add. If it had
to be more than that, I would have had to get a new mount, which I will do
one day, anyway. The added benefit of the spacers, was that it gave me much
needed room between the firewall and the engine. Having a nose gear, you
may not need to move as far forward with the engine, if any at all. My
engine is a GPASC 2180, so is probably close to the same weight as yours.

See you at the 2007 - KR Gathering
There is a time for building and a time for FLYING and the time for Flying
has begun.

I'm at the point of working on my cowling and have to make a decision on my
engine placement.
Thanks,
