Chris
I was using 3.5 gallons an hour average when I had my VW 1915cc engine on my
plane, for the first 34 test hours. I have not yet run the Corvair, but I
think Mark Langford has included some of his oepration costs/fuel economy on
his flight reports, along with some from Joe Horton as well. Mark Jones is
flying the Corvair and can also probably comment on average useage.

Larry Flesner can report average useage for the O-200 he flies, and Jim
Faughn is probably the most knowledgeable pilot on the net about VW
operation costs and fuel consumption, as I believe he is one of the longest
standing members of the net flying a VW (there are others; no offense
meant).

My tiedown at KSFB was $55 per month and will be $45 per month at KOMN.
Hangars typically run anywhere from $150 to $300 per month depending on the
airport, type of hangar, and whether it is shared or single T- hangar. I
think Mark L has a hangar and so does Mark Jones, and I think Dan Heath does
as well. I believe Brian still ties down his Mustang at KCRG.

Count on an oil change at least every 50 hours, alternator belt each year,
possibly a tuneup each year as well (depending on the type of plugs and
wires run, if points or electronic ignition). Add the cost of a conditional
inspection if you are not the Repairman Certified for your bird, once a
year.

Other cost comments welcome...
