If the firewall is used, won't that necessitate negative numbers
on a tri-gear?

As the KR manual gives the required CG as a distance aft of the
lead edge of the wing you can pick any point forward of the
three wheels (axle line) on the scales and keep the numbers
positive. I used my prop flange and my aircraft records state
that. If anything forward of my firewall ever changes a new
point can be picked and that referenced back to the lead edge
of the wing for any calculations. Determining the CG location
of your aircraft is not rocket science but CRITICAL TO FLIGHT.
If you don't FULLY understand what you are doing, find a flying
buddy or mechanic that does and get them to help you out.

If we have several people at the Gathering that don't fully understand
W&B we can cover it in the airframe forum or a separate forum
altogether.
