Hi All, I have been monitoring the KRNet for about a year and am finally making
the plunge. I am the proud owner of 2 KR-2 kits (I am the 4th owner of both I
think) and I am firmly committed to making an flying airplane of my parts. One
kit was shipped in '79 and the other around '84. The first kit came with no
plans and the second with a set dated 1984. I am an EAA member, #668934, and
President of EAA Chapter 251 in Alamogordo, N.M. A member of my chapter gave me
a set of plans he ordered in '75 but never used, serial # 75043. I want to be
completely ethical and legal in this project but am a little confused about
plans and their usage and ownership. Advice would be appreciated. One kit is in
the "boat" stage with the center section spar and the outer wing forward and
aft spar completed. I have many questions and have searched the archives for
hours but with a phone modem (56K) it takes forever and results have been less
than adequate. I would like to ask my questions one at a time and invite all to
reply to my e-mail address to keep from cluttering up the net with things that
have been covered. That said, I would like to add that I am not going to use
the retractable gear and am looking for a fixed main gear set-up. Anyone having

Thanks, Ken - P.S. Ken J. and Dave W. are right about the North-South compass
debate. To minimize magnetic dip a weight is placed on the side of the needle
nearest the equator. A compass built for the northern hemisphere will still
work in the southern hemisphere until it gets close to the pole. Then the
counterweight may cause it to stick. Acceleration and turning errors
experienced in the northern hemisphere will be reversed in the southern
hemisphere. North will NOT become south!
