Diabetes that's under control will not prevent your medical approval. Misleading answers on your medical application can come back to bite you, and could void your insurance. Just have your physician monitor you and write a letter for the AME that says you're in good control.
For yourself, make sure you're in good control anyway. Been there, done that.
