Congratulation Jim. Doing what you want to do is great (I always say "We are here for a good time, not a long time"). When in the Brisbane and/or Cairns, Australia regions contact me and we'll arange for some air time over the area, try and give me a week or 2 notice.

After many years of KR's I have made the decision to move to another part of my life. As many on this net know, I have loved the KR and have hosted or helped with numerous KR Gatherings. As my life goes, I have decided to move on to another phase of my life. I have already resigned from my job and will be going Cruising on my sailboat in November of this year. I plan on selling my plane to Steve Bennett with the option of purchasing it back when we finish our sailing adventure which may take as long as 6 to 10 years. (If you are interested in his KR 1 1/2 you have the first notice that his will be for sale.) This isn't a spoof, it is real. I thought long and hard about donating my plane to a museum to limit my liability but I figured Steve would fly it more conservatively than I do so he is the perfect person to keep it in shape and upgrade it and of course take care of it. This has been an interesting decision but I have to tell you that I have a belief... If you aren't living on the edge you are really taking up too much space. I am simply moving on to another edge. Will I be at this years Gathering, Yes. Will I be at Oshkosh 2007? I can't commit but Steve has already said that if I want to and I'm current, I can fly my plane up to Oshkosh. I may actually make it without the plane since I will be retiring early and that means more limited resources. Regardless, I still think the motto of 35 for the 35th still applies to Oshkosh in 2007. As for my plans, my last day to actually work will be June 23rd and I will still be employed until early December when my accumulated vacation runs out. You will be able to follow my adventures on www.jfaughn.com once I change the website to be one of Cruising. (Probably July or later in the summer) We plan on visiting the entire east coast, Bahamas, Caribbean, Venezuela, and ultimately going through the Panama Canal to the Pacific moving to Australia and New Zealand. (Assuming my wife adapts to MANY days at sea for crossings) I could tell you about how we would go back but that would take too much space on this email. I have loved the experience with the people who make up the KR community. Thank you for your support and I have been proud of the fact that KR's have reached a new level which now exceed the standard I was proud to set in 1992 when I first flew in to a KR Gathering. I believe the result is a better airplane and more importantly a safer aircraft. Thanks for all of your support over the years.
