for the kit info.  Yes, you order the kit and do your own conversion.  It took
me an hour or two.  I'm slow remember.  It took me 13 years to build
the KR. :-) I'd suggest that for the extra $20 you get the AMP cable
and auto shutoff.  The AMP cable (I think that's what they call it) has
all wires in one cable so you don't have to drill an extra hole in your
headset.  I Think the total cost for what I ordered was right at $200.

As for the foam, the KR cockpit is pretty tight depending of course on
the canopy.  Personally I'd rather have cabin heat then insulation.  My
thinking is that with cabin heat I wouldn't need the insulation and
without cabin heat I'm only insulating the cold air already in the
cockpit.  Sunshine and body heat will take the chill out of the air
down to about 32F.  My toes are what suffers in the cold in mine.
All I need to add for cabin heat in mine is a heat muff and hose
but I've been too busy flying to do it, or just too lazy.
