Ron, The correct way to add the flox is: After you have sanded the foam down to the airfoil shape, glass either the top surface or the bottom surface (not both). Once the glass has cured, remove about one inch of foam from the trailing edge. Fill the void where you removed the foam with flox. Now glass the surface (completely covering the flox) while the flox is wet (not cured). Use two pieces of aluminum angle (1" or 1 1/4")which will completely span the trailing edge and clamp one to the bottom and one to the top of the trailing edge. This will shape the flox into a perfect trailing edge. Do not remove the aluminum angle until the flox and glass have completely cured. Helpful tip: make sure you put wax paper between the aluminum angle the glass surfaces. You want to use angle and not flat metal to retain the straight edge of the trailing edge.

I have laid up one side, and am ready to sand the opposite side and lay it up. The plans show that you should sand out some foam along the trailing edge, and add flox to make a strong edge. I understand the concept, as I have been working with composites about a year now. My question is this: The plans seem to show that the bids are laid up together with the flox on top. Is this correct? It seems as though the flox should go between the layers to fill any voids. What is the correct method, or are both ok? I will be using a metal clamped to get a striaght edge. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Autos. Looking for a sweet ride?
