Mike Don't want this to sound like a flame, but that is a WAY off remark about spin resistance.
I can tell you from personal experience that the way a Cessna is designed, with the high wing, dihedral, off set engine, rudder behind the elevator, etc... not only make it more spin resistant, but also make the spin recovery a no brainer. In the 152 or 172 you virtually have to make it spin, and then if you do not initiate the recovery quickly, it will recover to the point of a dive on its own. These exercises having been done when the plane met the criteria for use in the utility category, where spins were allowed. Very possibly different results would be achieved if one had the weight/CG out of limits; but then you would not catch me flying with that pilot either... Conversely the Commander 112 and 114 models I am told have a bad record for difficult if not no recovery from spins due to the tail design. The crusaform tail, elevator mounted half way up the vertical stab, causes lots of problems for rudder authority during a spin. It will get into one easy; just do a power on stall uncoordinated to find out, but it is a BEAR to get back out. I called it an early day after that flight lesson...
