Probably a Grat Plains engine, then. "Rear drive" refers to VW conversions 
where the output is taken from the flywheel end of the engine. Not very 
common, but some swear that it makes a lot of engineering sense (some 
issues about torque and bearings, I believe). I think the Great Plains 
version also has some kind of built-in damper in the rear drive adapter. 
Other rear drives may have a shaft bolted on top of the engine, and a 
reduction belt at the flywheel end.

  As of Sunday night, there is still a 2 place mid engine sonerai being 
sold on ebay with a 2180 engine.  Reading the questions,  the seller 
responded that the propeller was a " rear drive ".

  So.. he must have had the engine reversed ?   How common is this? 

  Reading on plans from Sunday's posts.. must be pretty common for 
builders to end up with  multiple sets.   I have the original set of plans 
that  came with my basic KR2, and a unused 2004 set of KR2S plans.
