Hi there,
I am not a KR owner but I was interested in purchasing one a few weeks ago,
so the seller passed the group address on to me to see what this airplane is
all about.(Looks like a beautiful airplane but a little hot for my strip
behind the house.....)
I am actually building an RV-6 after building three composite gliders.
My son is an AME (I think you call them A&P) and operates a composite repair
shop. Please never use wax paper instead of peel ply...........
It leaves traces of wax to which nothing will bond. It also leaves a smooth
surface, not suitable for bonding.
Leave the peel ply on until you are ready to bond the next layer, that way
you have a perfect dust, dirt and oil free bonding surface. Make sure to
remove!
There was a fatal accident a few years back (at Centralia Airport just North
of here) during the initial flight of a composite homebuilt.
The investigation found peel ply that was not removed during the lay-up of
some critical parts!
We use the peel ply that has red tracers to make sure it gets removed.
Serge Vidal should be able to get peel ply at any glider repair shop in
France.
Ed Hollestelle.

Ken Rand used waxed paper to do that. Peel ply is used
to avoid sanding when joining two parts, Virg
I believe it is DACRON cloth
