All of this talk about GPS...well let me tell you what I have. I have a Magellan 315. Thay make a Magellan 315A which has the entire aviation database on it but it cost a lot more. I picked up my Magellan 315 for $75 on eBay. It came with land data (roads, cities, rivers, etc.). Well I erased all of that and completely cleared the database. I the went to this web site ; http://home.stny.rr.com/bkw/315/ and downloaded the current FAA aviation database (which is kept current on this web site) to my PC using Datasend which I bought on eBay for $15. With Datasend and the downloaded database you can upload by the region you choose or the entire database to your Magellan GPS. You can also pick and choose what info you want on the GPS. I have public and private airports loaded on mine as well as VOR stations. Now, if you go on eBay and buy this Sectionals DVD (which I did) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Official-Current-US-Sectional-Charts-On-DVD_W0QQitemZ4588658022QQcategoryZ26440QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem for $10 you can save the files on your lap top and have all the current sectionals for the US. This program works like "Microsoft Streets and Trips". Once you have done this you can put your lap top in the plane and connect your gps to it and you will have a moving map display which shows sectionals just like the ones you buy. You can plot trips, overlay sectionals, check distances, etc, etc, etc... with this program. I use it when flying cross country and found it to be a totally awesome set up when I flew to the Gathering in Mount Vernon. The great part is you have your GPS doing it's display and also the sectional moving map display on your big lap top screen. And the really best part is that I have a GPS and 12" moving map color display all for $100. Sweeeeeeeeeeet.......it just doesn't have a Hemi.
