Several of the pictures show Mark L. making a spring assembly to wrap
the exhaust pipe to maintain spacing for the shroud and for additional
heat transfer. There is a cheap, ready made alterative at the hardware
store. It is the old style screen door spring that is 12 to 14 inches long
and very tightly wound. Just stretch the spring to get the coil spacing
you want and install it. When stretched beyond it's spring back length
it maintains that shape. It has a connecting loop on each end that you
can use to secure it with. It's not stainless but I figure you can replace
it every five years or so for $2 or $3.
