Interesting Don, thanks for the info. I have a wooden fuse in the garage now, but I've always wondered about a steel tube substitute based loosely on the Sonerai. Looking at the numbers you've provided it might be possible.
I've always thought that a wood stringer and fabric turtle deck would look nice on a KR and it would be very light and easy to make too. A steel fuse would finish off the plane so that it looked more like something out of the golden age of aviation. Some nice wheel pants and streamlined gearleg covers would complete the look.
