My wife would come flying more often if it was more comfortable.

The stock KR2 is too narrow.

(This sounds like a reason to build a KR2S but widened :-)

  I consider a stock KR2 or 2S as a 1 + 1, sort of like some cars are
designated as a 2 + 2. This is OK, if most of your flying is going to be by
yourself or with a small companion. However, if you expect to be flying with
two full sized adults, most of the time, you should seriously consider widening
it. My first KR2 never carried a passenger, I expect that this one will, but
most of my flying will probably be by myself. Most, almost all, of the flight
reports that I have read on the net are with ONE person aboard. Do you NEED a
full 2 place airplane, or is a 1 + 1 sufficient for your purposes?

I think the only time it's NOT necessary to widen the KR2S is when you build
it as a one seater! 3"-6" wider at the shoulders (and maybe even leave it
stock width or only slightly wider at the knees) will make it a decent
2-seater. I've sat in plenty of KR2's (which are the same width as KR2S's,
if built to plans), and if it wasn't widened, it's practically not a two
  seater...
