For those of you looking at handheld radios, I suggest you check out the JRC radio. I purchased one after the used Sporty radio I had went south. It's a very nice unit with plent of features ( I got the nav/com unit) and as I recall I paid about $250. I have my head set pluged in to an intercom, the intercom to the radio, and use an external antenna (mounted inside the KR) and you can't tell the radio transmittions from a panel mount. Larry Flesner
