It would be easy to build a LSA modified KR-2 butI wouldn't call it a
KR-2, I would give it a new name, but you could use the same construction
techniques, its more fun to work with the spruce than a 601 because of
the smell of the wood when it is cut.
NASA developed some Low Speed airfoils about twenty years ago that would
be good, one was used on the v-easy wing that was 17% thick but they also
had one that was 21% thick that could use a thick spar, if this was used
for the center section and the span of the center section was increased
about 4 feet this would give room for a more efficient flap and the extra
area could lower the stall speed While the increased span would increase
the climb rate. You may want to strech the fuselage and increase the area
of the tail and now it would be a new airplane but don't refer to the KRs
at all. It could be one of the best LSA aircraft ever.
