(The theory being people were building >wooden aeroplanes long before fibreglass was invented) I used 1.8 oz. dacron on my wood which is tacked on with fabric cement (poly tack) around the edges and the fabric is heated with an iron to taughten it up. Then I used polybrush to seal it. That protects the bare wood.
