Netters,
After not flying since June 4th, I finally made a 2.4 hour flight this evening.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
During the time not flying, I modified my intake to carb mount, built a new air
box with an internal filter. Made new carb heat connections and fresh air
inlet. Of course, I must thank Mark Langford for the design ideas for the air
box and fresh air inlet. I also had to modify the bottom of my cowl which meant
some more fiberglass work. The results were an increase of static rpm to 3200
in flight ready mode. That was a 250 rpm increase over my previous static rpm
in flight ready mode. Boy did she climb out.....1200 fpm and I was 2000' AGL
when I left down wind and turned cross field over the approach end of the
runway. At 4000' I leveled off and was turning 3300 rpm and maintained 145 mph
on the ASI. I still think my engine may need some tweaking. Now mind you this
is with no wheel pants on my tri gear set up and no spinner. Faster speeds are
waiting on me.
