I have also made the same mistake in my case it was a touch and go and I
failed to raise the flap. My climb was a lot slower then usual so much so
that I realized that there was extra drag. The rate of climb seemed normal.
I have used my flap to increase the angle of climb by selecting only the
first notch of flap stop bracket. In that instance I could tell the climb
was better, but it was only like a day with more wind down the runway.
