The woods you mention are FAR heavier and more expensive than Spruce or fir, 
so why consider it?  AS i SAID BEFORE, THERE ARE OTHER FACTORS TO CONSIDER 
BESIDES SPECIFIC GRAVITY. For a good education on wood properties, go to 
yahoo and search under "wood, properties or wood, specific gravity. 
Remember, years of experience and research in the industry leads us to the 
conclusion that the best weight and strenght value for what we are doing is 
found in spruce, and fir....but as I said before, anything goes....within 
reason of course, Other things that we must take into account are Tensile, 
shear and compression properties, ability to accept glues and finishes, 
resistance to fungi, and insects.
