I'm running 54" 3 blade on the standard Diehl gear with a 3" extension on
the bottom bracket. This would be close I think to the Grove gear. I've
found on my KR2 that props bigger than this have very little if any
clearance in anything other than a very smooth wheeler landing. Flex the
legs a little and add a squashed tyre or deflated tyre plus a bit too much
forward stick and there ain't much left. 54 " has the advantage of being
able to spin up your engine (mine's a Corvair) to around 3800-4000 rpm and
take advantage of its best power/torque if needed.
