I am using heavy weight drawing Mylar that I purchased from a drafting supply house, frosted on one side. I am cutting it in strips and epoxying the strips in place after fiberglassing the parts [ rudder, horz. stabilizer and etc.] I then used a little epoxy filler to dress the seams flush and sand smooth. Mylar will take painting just fine.
