it is true that a prop strike if its wooden does not damage the crank ect
Over The years I have learned to never say never. Sudden stoppage is what
will damage a crank the quickest. If the tip hits the ground or an object,
and only an inch or so is trimmed off, the engine likely would not be
damaged. If on the other hand the plane has nosed over and the prop center
section and hub are trying to grind themselves into the pavement or dirt,
everything is suspect. Most likely a prop strike with a wooden prop will
result in a lot of tooth picks and splinters. A wise and cautious person
would have the crank checked. After all, a trip through the corn field will
ruin your day.
