When I started building this plane I was planning on using CIS fuel
injection, an almost bulletproof mechanical injection system used on
European cars. But after looking at the weight and size of the components,
I'd end up with 20 pounds more weight in it than a carb setup. And the CIS
setup that I had was for a four cylinder, and now I'm building a six
cylinder. The biggie with the carb is that it was light and simple to hook
up, and now that's behind me. I may very well give fuel injection a try
later on, after I've flown the KR and have that part of the curve behind me.
One of the first things on my list after getting my KR broken in will be to
build a spare engine. That engine will probably have fuel injection on it.
Now that my cowling is built, I think I have room for all of that stuff
underneath too. The totally redundant fuel system probably cost me under
three pounds altogether.
