Ray, I just had some discussion with Dan on that very subject. He says to sand until you get the gummy stuff off the top and your sanding is bringing up white powder. I may start on it with a 40 grit and then go to 100. He also says that VinylEster is not the best for gluing to wood and recommend using something different. We are using Aero Poxy and he suggested that I stick with that. I am sure that West or any of the structural resins are good.
Unless you have premolded skins, or used VinylEster to make the wings, it won't matter anyway. If Dan Diehl says it, that is all the confirmation that you really need.
